How to create motivation?

5 tips on how to get things done, get moving or achieve those things you want in your life!

How to get and stay motivated...

Motivation seems like an elusive state to a lot of individuals. I know I suffer often with lack of motivation - it may be because I've been tired, or feeling overworked, or just not in the mood on a particular day. However, if you study the habits of successful people, they all have the same things in common, and have probably been through EXACTLY the same issues you have trying to be motivated. What do they do different... read on and find out!

Tip #1 - Find your WHY!

This is the MOST important way to be and feel motivated. As humans we do not like doing things we don't want to do. So you need a compelling reason to start and continue whatever it is you want to achieve.

Maybe it's adding in some exercise into your week - Why is it important to you? What do you want to achieve? Why do you want to achieve this? What will it bring you? Why is that important to you?

Maybe it's starting a new business - Why is it important to you? What do you want to achieve? Why do you want to achieve this? What will it bring you? Why is that important to you?

It's worth writing down all these layers of questions to yourself, and drilling down to all the reasons until you come to your core WHY.

Tip #2 - Experience the emotions of achieving your WHY

Start to imagine how it feels to achieve your WHY. Feel the feelings, imagine it has already happened. Dial in to how this makes you feel. Whenever you feel like stopping, remember the feelings you felt during this exercise. Know that it is WORTH the EFFORT. Know that to achieve it you have to keep going and never stop.

"Don't stop when you are tired. Stop when you are done." – Wesley Snipes

Tip #3 - Make it a habit

The absolute best thing to do is make your actions a non-negotiable habit in your day/week. Let's use exercise as another example. Make your gym / Pilates / Yoga session a non-negotiable in your week. Set aside time in your diary that is allocated to that. After 3 weeks you'll have developed a habit, and just keep that going.

Like brushing your teeth, and showering it becomes just something you do. And the more you do it, the better you become at it, the less hard it feels.

Tip #4 - Motivation comes AFTER action

There is a myth that you have to be motivated to take action. This is not always the case. Action comes FIRST which then INCREASES motivation as you start to see RESULTS. Once you get to your class/gym/start your chosen activity then motivation follows and improves week on week.

Tip #5 - JFDI

Ultimately no one is going to do this for you. You can hire a coach/instructor/teacher who can keep you accountable and push you further and really helps. However, you still have to do the work! You have to want to achieve your WHY. You have to have worked out the root of your desire to ensure you have the best chance of success.

Just Flippin' Do It!

If you want it, just get it done. It's in your hands. It's all down to you. If you succeed you did it, if you failed, you just didn't try hard enough or you quit too early!

You can do anything. Don't limit yourself. Think big, and dream hard and the rest will follow!

It's up to you, but you don't have to do it alone!

If you want accountability - find a teacher, coach, someone to give you advice. But commit to yourself to achieve whatever it is you want to achieve.
